About Riverside Foundry Inc.
A Non-Ferrous Sand Casting Manufacturer Built for Long-Term Production
Where We Started
From a Small Foundry to an Established Manufacturer
Riverside Foundry Inc. traces its roots back to nearby Preston, where partners Ervin Steinmann and the late Elmer Schlegel began a small foundry operation. In 1969, they relocated the business to the former Hahn Brass Works on Waterloo Street in New Hamburg.
For Ervin, the move marked a return to familiar ground. He first worked in the industry in New Hamburg, where he learned the casting trade. From these early beginnings, Riverside established itself as a reliable non-ferrous foundry serving customers across Southern Ontario and beyond.

How We’ve Grown
Adapting with the Industries We Serve
Over 60 years, Riverside has grown from its early beginnings with two people to more than 125 employees, supporting over 200 customers across North America.
As part of this evolution, Riverside increasingly focused on manufacturing non-ferrous castings for industrial applications, particularly in the water and electrical sectors. In 2010, the company expanded further with the addition of a brass, bronze, and aluminum plaque division, serving government, heritage, special events, cemeteries, and memorialization markets.
The company’s growth reflects a long-standing focus on customer service and a reputation for dependable production.

Our Facilities
Supporting Consistent Production
Riverside Foundry Inc. operates two production facilities in New Hamburg totaling approximately 77,000 square feet, supporting consistent non-ferrous sand casting production.
In addition to this modern foundry, Riverside continues to operate its original Waterloo Street facility. Together, these sites provide the flexibility and capacity to support medium- to large-scale production programs across several non-ferrous alloys.
A New Chapter
Canerector &
Foundrion Group
In 2024, Riverside Foundry Inc. was acquired by Canerector, a North American industrial products and services provider.
Riverside is also a member of the Foundrion Group — a network of twelve sand casting foundries representing more than 600 years of combined experience in alloy manufacturing. These relationships strengthen Riverside’s ability to support customers across North America through shared expertise, broader resources, and long-term stability.
These relationships provide Riverside with additional scalability, enhancing our capabilities and offerings for new and existing customers.
